We love to talk to you, but these answers to some of the most common questions we receive may save you the time it takes to make those phone calls.

What if my question isn't listed here?
We would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Call our toll free number: 1-800-853-PATH or outside Canada: 519-822-4486. Alternately, you can send us e-mail at Wilcock@Histovet.com and we will respond as soon as possible.

What is your turnaround time?
Once a specimen reaches us, you will have a diagnosis within 24 hours. If you use our free courier service, this ordinarily would mean that a package leaving your clinic on a Monday would reach us on Tuesday, and you would have an answer on Wednesday.

Do you have a differential fee schedule for multiple tissues, for histology/cytology combinations, or for post mortems requiring multiple slides?
The answer is no. We have a single fee which is a consultation fee to get me involved in the case. Whether it is a single biopsy, multiple biopsies, histology/cytology combinations, or a whole post mortem - this one fee remains the same.

What is the fee outside of Canada?

Do we have to specify which pathologist we want to read our slides?
Well, you can specify, but I interpret every case myself so you have no choice!

What is your FAX number?
Our FAX number is the same as our toll-free phone number, which is on all our submission forms and reports: 1-800-853-PATH.
Outside Canada, our voice and fax number is 519-822-4486.

How do I ship from outside of Canada?

Do I need any special supplies?
We offer clients leakproof formalin containers, containers for shipping slides, two pouch ziplock bags, personalized submission forms, all supplies required for shipping by courier, and (perhaps most importantly), free consultation with clients about cases at hours convenient to the client.

What is your relationship with the other private laboratories?
The answer is simple. I have no relationship whatsoever with any of the other private laboratories. While some of the other laboratories will forward things to me when they are requested to do so, this can result in a substantial slow down and the opportunity for handling errors. If you wish me to look at something, send it directly to me using our shipping instructions.

What is the best time to talk with you, so we do not have to leave a message on your answering machine?
As you probably know, I still have teaching and service commitments at the Ontario Veterinary College. The best time to reach me is over the noon hour, or call me after 5:00 p.m. E.S.T. Because we work with clinics from Newfoundland to British Columbia, our work day must keep in step with a wide range of extended clinic hours.
Your concern is my concern, so don't hesitate to call "after hours"!!!
